The World Darts Federation (WDF) exists to govern and promote the Sport of Darts throughout the world. Founded in 1976 by representatives of fifteen (15) nations, the WDF is incorporated in the State of California, USA.

Elections for these positions are held bi-annually at the WDF General Meeting following the WDF World Cup events.
The WDF meets annually, in conjunction with WDF World Cup events (odd years) or following the World Masters Championships (even years).
The WDF organizes the following international 'Cup' events comprised of selected national teams. A bidding process is utilized to determine the host country for each 'Cup' event.
