Paul Lim cancels appearance
From July 23-29, the PDC will once again present the
World Matchplay Tournament, at Blackpool England. Sky Sports
will broadcast the event live, with commentary by a team of
darts announcers that includes Sid Waddell, Dave Lanning,
and John Gwynne.
After a business merger led to the previous sponsor to
backing out, Stan James Bookmakers stepped up at the last
minute, announcing their committment to the event on July
16.
Discussing the sponsorship deal, Stephen Fisher, Chairman

has made their tournaments compulsive viewing for men and
women of all ages. We are delighted to be sponsoring the PDC
World Matchplay and are confident that our unrivalled

regarded as one of the showpieces of the darts calendar."

The Stan James World Matchplay is one of the most
exciting and prestigious events in the darting calendar.
Held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, the tournament
attracts up to 2,000 avid darts fans to each of the
sessions.
Many of the top professional darts players in the world
will be taking part including eight times World Champion
Phil 'The Power' Taylor, two-times and defending Matchplay
Champion, Rod 'The Prince of Style' Harrington, and former
World Champion, Canadian John Part.
American Paul Lim was also scheduled to attend, but
was forced to cancel due to problems with US Immigration.
Alex roy will be replacing him at the Matchplay.
