Darts is getting more publicity every day, as a prop on TV shows orMovies, mentioned in the News, or as a theme for advertising in normally non-darts-related media. Help document the growing popularity of Darts, and show the skeptics how popular our sport really is!

KPRC was a local television show, produced in Houston, Texas USA, and Dick Gottlieb was one of the most popular TV personalities of the early TV era. As TV was in its infancy, no video tape is believed to exist for this show.
8/96 - Signage - Red Dog Beer Neon Sign.
This is a beautiful backlighted sign, bearing the Red Dog Logo
and a really nice looking dartboard graphic. The dartboard graphic is
somewhat generic, but appears to be most similar to a steel-point
dartboard. About 2x3 feet in size, this was spotted in a soft-tip
darts bar in Houston, Texas.
9/96 - TV Show - "Murphy Brown" sitcom*, USA,
CBS network.
One of the highest-rated TV sitcoms on CBS! A black/yellow
wound-paper steel-point board is hung on the back of the Murphy's
private office door, at about the right height. She often has a small
sign stuck on it, bearing a cute saying of some sort These signs
change often. This dartboard is seen in nearly every episode, and has
been there for many years.
8/96 - TV AD - Outback Steakhouse
advertisement.
Nicely done, with real bristle (Steel-Point Darts) dartboards. And
really unusual, in a couple of sequences, the darters actually throw
correctly! The darts even have real flights & shafts, not just
plastic bar darts. The basic plot is that a man walks in and
challenges the local players for a free dinner for a triple-20, and
everyone in the place throws one (all at the same time!). Then the
same offer, and perfect scoring throws again, on an offer of a
double-bull. etc, etc...
9/96 - TV Show - "MASH" sitcom reruns.
A steel-point type dartboard (probably wound-paper) is mounted on the
inside of the door of the "Swamp", the main characters' tent. Mounted
about 3 feet off the floor, it is clearly unusable, although the
characters have actually lobbed darts at it in a few episodes
(usually overhand). Since these are extremely popular reruns, MASH
can be found on many different broadcast and cable channels,
world-wide.
9/2/96 - TV Show - "Almost Perfect" sitcom,
USA, CBS network.
This is another current, high-ratings TV show. A dartboard is mounted
on the inside of the office door, and is visible in most episodes.
Looks like a steel-tip, wound-paper board, with several darts left
sticking in it.

2012 - TV Show - "Jersey Shore" Jersey Shore, bristle dartboard mounted on wall in the shore house. Occasionally an episode shows someone throwing darts at it, in a not-very-serious manner.

7/17/2013 - TV Show - "Top Shot" Episode: "Threading the Needle". Shooting competition show on the History Channel (USA cable channel). A bristle dartboard is mounted in a standard darts cabinet, hanging the outside wall of the house, on a covered patio. A couple of the competitors in the Top Shot competition are shown throwing darts. It was nice to see that they were using using reasonable form, instead of some outlandish style, overhand, baseball, or any of the other odd styles that are often seen on TV. Both throwers stood roughly sideways, and used fairly good throwing style with all darts apparently hitting the target.
