ADO MEMBERSHIP CARDS, FUNDRAISING PROGRAM DEBUT
Playoff Adjustments, 2003 National Finals Sites Also Topics at Board Meeting

Anaheim, Calif. The ADO Board of Directors finalized plans to distribute membership cards to all ADO members and approved a partnership with ESPN: The Magazine at its recent fall board meeting. Membership cards will be provided to organizations when 2002 dues are paid; the cards will be on perforated sheets of 8 to 10 per sheet to allow local organizations to add their own logo before distribution.
Tournament calendars for 2002 will be sent to individual members and member organizations before Christmas. Included on the calendar is an offer from ESPN: The Magazine that provides members the opportunity to subscribe to the magazine at a 75% discount rate. The ADO will receive a portion of each subscription fee collected from this offer to use in future darts promotions.
Points and Trips
The Board of Directors approved an adjustment to international points for players who represent the ADO at international events. It is the first adjustment to these points since their inception more than 15 years ago. Now, players who are official ADO representatives at international events will receive points equal to first place in their respective men's or women's singles for the largest purse tournament scheduled on the same weekend as the international event. When more than one tournament with equal prize money is scheduled on such a weekend, the one with the higher championship point opportunity will be used in determining the points award. Previously, those representing the ADO at international events received 10 championship points.
In other action, the board made it easier for alternates to attend national finals when the regional winner has to withdraw less than 21 days before the nationals. Now, the first alternate will be offered a chance to go to the final at the same travel cost reimbursement that the regional winner would have received. Should the travel cost for the alternate exceed that required for the winner, the alternate will have the opportunity to go if he/she is willing to pay the additional cost. Previously, alternates were not offered the chance to participate if the regional winner withdrew less than 21 days before the event.
Booking Ahead
Due to increased interest from member organizations and cities in hosting ADO national finals, the ADO board will make its final site selections for 2003 national playoffs at its spring board meeting, tentatively scheduled for the first weekend in April. In 2002, finals will be held in St. Louis, Stamford, Conn., North Lake Tahoe with the 2002 cricket finals slated for Las Vegas in February 2003. The deadline for bids on 2004 sites will be the spring board meeting of 2003. For information about bidding on these events, contact the ADO office.
Back to the Future
ADO members are reminded that memberships expire on December 31. To ensure receipt of 2002 tournament calendars, Double Eagles and other ADO updates, renew your membership for 2002 by that time!
