Anaheim, Calif. The American Darts OrganizationÇ is 25 years old!And members have a chance to take part in celebrating that milestone. Anniversary programs will be sold at all ADO road show events, beginning with Blueberry Hill in April, and special, limited edition shirts and pins will also be for sale to mark this historical event. Shirts, in two styles, will be available beginning with the New York-New Jersey Open Jan. 26-28. The shirts are priced at $15 and $20. Order forms will be available on site; pricing for other items will be announced in future news releases and at area tournaments. In addition, the ADO is accepting advertising for a flat rate of $100 per 8-1/2 x 11" page in the anniversary program. Camera-ready ads must be submitted to President Sandi Cain no later than March 15.
Another Year, Another Round of Qualifiers
The 2000 team that traveled to the Winmau World Masters in England-along with our youth champion-fared no better than quarter-finals among them. Another group will have its chance next winter, and you could be on the team! Association qualifiers for this portion of the ADO playoff program must be held by Feb. 4; regional playoffs are scheduled for the first weekend in March. Because of an unexpected change of date for the national finals in Charlotte the first weekend in April, regional dates cannot be changed to later in March. All those going on to regional playoffs will receive special anniversary certificates of participation and special edition anniversary flights; all national finalists will receive an additional award.Just Say "Charge It"
At long last, the ADO is launching a program to make it easier to participate in its programs. Beginning with the first playoff of this year, you can just say "charge it" when paying for membership, entry fees to ADO-sponsored events or for ADO merchandise. CFO Charlie Forrester has been setting up the software for credit card acceptance and doing test runs before the launch. Once in effect, members need never worry again about having cash on hand to take part in ADO activities-as long as they have a valid credit card. The ADO board believes this addition will be a benefit for individuals and clubs alike and ease the collection of funds for the
ADO.New Board Members on Board
Two new Area Managers have been elected to the board of directors: Brenda Roush, Denver, who has assumed the duties for Area 2, and Les Neugebauer, Mitchell, S.D., who takes over Area 6. Both are former Regional Directors and longtime ADO members and supporters. They replace Bill Turner and Don Coy, respectively, both of whom chose not to seek re-election.In Search of World Points
The first WDF-ranked tournament in the U.S. this year will be the $20,000 Las Vegas Open on the first weekend of February.
